LOS ANGELES SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO)
You probably used a search engine (most likely Google) to find our
site: www.marcomnewmedia.com with a search term like “Los Angeles SEO”
and here you are. That’s the power of search engine optimization
when done correctly.
Search Engine Optimization is the practice that enables a website to
rank highly on the search engines for targeted keyword phrases (like
“Los Angeles SEO”). Back in the mid 90s when I started
playing around with SEO, the game was easy. You did about
three things to a website and you were done. Unscrupulous SEO
practitioners charged monthly maintenance fees to do basically, NOTHING.
Then along came Google and SEO became a whole new ballgame. Links
became very important. Quality and quantity of content became
more important than ever. While first offered by goto.com,
Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising became Google’s cash cow and a whole
new breed of search engine marketers (SEM) were born….people who
“optimized” your Google Pay Per Click campaigns. These have
about as much in common as Brad Pitt and a ticket stub to Ocean’s 12.
If you’re looking for someone to run your PPC campaign you’re in the
wrong place.
However, if you want to get out from under the thousands of dollars a
month you are currently spending on a PPC, then you’ve come to the
right place. That’s what we do at MarcomNewMedia. Search engine optimization: the
craft that gets your websites to rank high in Bing, Yahoo! and
Google. The good news was that up until then, if you were willing
to work hard, do the research and had half a brain, you could get good
results from do-it-yourself SEO.
However…In the last few years, social media has caught on and has
started influencing the search engine results. This means that
not only must you optimize your website; create massive amounts of
content for your websites, as well as for link building purposes;
aggressively pursue link building strategies and tactics, but now
you’ve got to have videos on YouTube, have Twitter, Facebook and Linked
In accounts, as well as a Press Room, article feeds, news feeds and of
course the powerful blog. If you think you can do that in-house,
you are sorely mistaken.
It’s a full time job just keeping up with the latest techniques and
search engine optimization practices, let alone implementing them.
So, if I’ve convinced you to outsource your search engine optimization
(along with social media) there’s one more thing for you to
consider. Who do you outsource it to? My suggestion
is to hire locally. Sure, the work can be done from anywhere, and
meetings can be conducted by phone, but the reality of search engine
optimization is that there’s a trust factor in play. Essentially,
SEO services are sold on a bucks-up-front manner, and if the SEO
consultant is honest, results won’t be seen for several months at
least.
Remember, you typed “Los Angeles SEO” into the search engine and found
us. What better reference do you need?
